This article explains how to create, personalize, and send WhatsApp messages in Diobox using approved WhatsApp templates.

Create a New WhatsApp Message
To create a WhatsApp message, go to the Texts page and click the + Text Message dropdown in the upper-right corner. Then select New WhatsApp Message.
This opens the WhatsApp Template Browser.
Choose a WhatsApp Template
The WhatsApp Template Browser contains approved WhatsApp templates organized by message type and purpose. Each template includes a preview and description explaining how the template is intended to be used.
Templates can be filtered by category:
Utility
Marketing
Templates are also grouped by common event workflows such as:
Opt-In
Invitations
RSVP Reminders
Registration Reminders
Data Collection
Event Updates
Confirmations
QR Code Distribution
WhatsApp templates are required by Meta before businesses can send WhatsApp messages. Templates help reduce spam and ensure businesses send structured and trusted communications.

Personalize the Message
After selecting a template, the message opens in the Diobox WhatsApp Message Editor. The editor is designed specifically for WhatsApp templates and allows approved content to be personalized using editable fields, event data, guest data, forms, QR codes, and attachments.
Because WhatsApp templates must be pre-approved by Meta, template content cannot be freely rewritten. Instead, Diobox provides many pre-approved templates with editable sections that can be customized immediately without additional approval.
Editable areas are visually highlighted in the editor. Click any highlighted field to personalize the content.
Templates may support:
Guest names
Event names and branding
Event updates and announcements
Dates, times, and locations
QR codes
Registration Forms
Images and attachments

Configure WhatsApp Sending Options
WhatsApp Sending Options are configured per event and apply to all WhatsApp messages within that event.
Auto Opt-In
Auto Opt-In automatically sends an opt-in request to guests who have not yet approved WhatsApp messaging for the event.
If the guest approves the request within 48 hours, Diobox automatically sends the original WhatsApp message afterward.

Fallback to SMS
Fallback to SMS automatically resends failed WhatsApp messages as SMS messages.
This helps maximize delivery when:
The phone number is not registered on WhatsApp
Marketing messages cannot be delivered to U.S. phone numbers
WhatsApp delivery is unavailable due to regional or platform restrictions

Note: Auto Opt-In and Fallback to SMS each use 1 additional messaging credit whenever triggered.
Select Recipients
Recipients can be filtered using event and guest criteria including:
Confirmation Status
Custom Segments
Arrival Status
Guest Lists
Seating Assignments
β
Guests must have a valid phone number and complete the WhatsApp opt-in process before they can receive WhatsApp messages.
Before sending, Diobox automatically calculates recipient eligibility, including:
Guests who will receive the WhatsApp message immediately
Guests who will first receive an opt-in request
Guests who are not eligible for delivery
β
Preview and Send a Test Message
Before sending the message, preview it as a guest to verify how personalized fields populate.
You can also send a test message to your own device to confirm the final appearance and behavior within WhatsApp.
Once the message is finalized and recipients are selected, send the WhatsApp message for immediate delivery.
