Kiosk Mode provides a self-service check-in experience where guests scan their own QR codes upon arrival. It runs on the Diobox iPad and iPhone apps and supports full customization of branding, on-screen messaging, and guest display details.
This setup is commonly used at event entrances, allowing organizers to reduce staffing while maintaining a fast and consistent check-in flow.
The Guest Experience
From the guest’s perspective, the process is simple and intuitive.
Guests arrive at the kiosk and see a branded home screen with a custom background, event logo, and color theme. A single action is presented to begin check-in.
Once the guest taps the scan button, the camera opens with a live view so they can position their QR code from a phone, printed confirmation, or badge.
After a successful scan, the guest’s name and optional photo appear on screen. A confirmation sound can play if the device is not muted. If badge printing is enabled, printing begins automatically without additional input.
If the QR code is invalid or has already been scanned, the screen displays an appropriate message. An error sound may also play depending on device settings.
The entire interaction is designed to be quick and self-guided, allowing guests to check themselves in without assistance.
Supported QR Codes
Kiosk Mode works with every type of QR code generated from the Diobox platform, including:
QR codes from confirmation emails and confirmation pages
QR codes printed on badges, including those with vCard data
Temporal QR codes

Secure Kiosk Mode and Lock the Device
To ensure a reliable self-service experience, the device can be restricted to remain within the Diobox app. Kiosk Mode includes a PIN that prevents users from exiting the check-in screen or accessing other parts of the app, such as guest data and event settings.
To fully lock the device into the Diobox app, use Guided Access, a built-in iOS feature designed for kiosk-style setups. When enabled, it prevents users from leaving the app or interacting with other areas of the device.
