Restricting QR Codes to Guest Segments

Control event access by restricting Diobox QR codes to confirmed guests, specific lists, or registration forms for flexible check-in.

Updated today

For complex events, you may want to limit QR scanning to specific groups of guests rather than allowing every valid code to be checked in. This helps control access to certain areas, sessions, or times within your event.

You can configure these restrictions in Tools > QR Code Settings. Each device can have its own settings, giving you flexibility to manage different entry points or workflows.

Restriction Options

No Restrictions

This is the default setting. Every valid QR code will scan successfully and check in the guest.

Confirmed Guests Only

Only guests with a Confirmed status can be checked in. This ensures that only guests who RSVPed โ€œyesโ€ or purchased a ticket are admitted, while declined, waitlisted, or unresponsive guests are blocked.

Specific Guest List

You can restrict check-in to guests assigned to a chosen Guest List. This is useful for controlling access to certain areas or sessions. For example, you might allow only sponsors into the backstage area by scanning with a device restricted to the Sponsor list.

Specific Form Registration

You can restrict check-ins based on the registration form a guest used. Diobox supports five different form types, so you can configure access based on the form completed. This gives you additional flexibility for segmenting guest entry.
