SMS messages in Diobox allow organizers to quickly communicate with guests using personalized text messages, reminders, confirmations, QR codes, and event updates.
This article covers how to create an SMS message, customize the content, select recipients, and preview messages before sending.

Create a New SMS Message
To create an SMS message, go to the Texts page and click the + Text Message dropdown in the upper-right corner.
Select New SMS Message.
This opens the SMS Template Browser.
Choose a Template
The SMS Template Browser includes pre-built templates organized by purpose, including:
Invitations
RSVP Reminders
Registration Reminders
Data Collection
Event Updates
Confirmations
QR Code Distribution
Each template includes a preview and description explaining its intended use.
Select the template you want and click Create.
Templates provide a starting point and can always be customized after creation.
Prepare Your SMS Message
After selecting a template, the message opens in the SMS Message Editor.
The editor allows you to type freely and personalize messages using Merge Tags and Registration Forms.
Merge Tags
Merge Tags automatically insert guest-specific information into each SMS message at the time of sending.
Available Merge Tags include:
First Name
Full Name
Email Address
Company
Title
Seating Details
Confirmation Status
Confirmation URL
QR Code Page
Registration Forms
You can insert Registration Forms directly into an SMS message. Each guest receives a personalized version of the form link automatically.
SMS Message Limitations
SMS messages support plain text only and have several important limitations:
Maximum message length of 290 characters
No images or attachments
No bold formatting or rich text styling
Select Recipients
Recipients can be filtered using event and guest criteria including:
Confirmation Status
Guest Lists
Seating Assignments
Check-In Status
Registration Status
Custom Segments
Custom Segments allow you to build advanced recipient filters using multiple guest conditions and rules.
Once recipients are selected, Diobox automatically displays the total number of guests with valid phone numbers so you can review how many SMS messages will be sent.
Preview and Send a Test Message
Before sending the message, preview the SMS as a guest to verify that personalization and merge tags display correctly.
You can also send a test message to your own phone number to review the final appearance and behavior of the SMS message on a real device.
Once everything looks correct, send the SMS message to recipients.
