Configure QR Codes on Badges

Updated over a week ago

You can include QR codes on your badges that are automatically personalized for each guest when printed. Diobox uses a proprietary technology to generate a single dynamic QR code that can be used for different purposes.

Add a QR Code

Use a badge template that includes a QR code or add a new one from the Badge Builder toolbar.

QR Code Type

Select the QR code on the canvas to view its settings in the Properties panel. You can choose between two modes.

Option 1: Check-In and Lead Retrieval

This QR code can be scanned by:

  • Diobox App for check-in, session tracking, and guest lookup.

  • Diobox Lead Retrieval App for exhibitor lead capture.

Option 2: Check-In, Lead Retrieval, and vCard Exchange

This mode works the same as above but also includes the guest’s basic contact details in a vCard format. This allows guests to scan each other’s codes using the built in camera app on any phone and save the contact to their address book.

The vCard includes:

  • Name

  • Title

  • Company

  • Email

  • Phone

This ensures that only basic contact information is shared between guests, while any additional or private details you manage within the platform remain confidential and are never embedded in the vCard QR code.

Remember that the vCard QR code is generated when the badge is printed. If any primary contact fields are updated, the badge must be reprinted for the vCard to include the latest information.

Tip: vCard QR codes hold more information, which makes the pattern denser and harder to scan in low light or with older cameras. Increase the QR code size on the badge for faster, more reliable scanning.
